Obsessed with Steve Perry

So, the latest on Journey is that Neal Schon and Jon Cain are now fighting over the direction of the band.  Apparently, Cain wants to go religious / political and Schon says no.  I think there's more to it than what they have lead people to believe. The fact that Neal has been tweeting about who owns the band, who brought who into the band,  heck he's even mentioned Steve a few times (a brand Steve Perry and I built), means he's hanging out on a limb.   Ross is no help .  Hmmmm.... Now you know how Steve felt when you all ganged up on him to get that surgery when he wasn't ready for it!

Most of the information I will mention comes from this GQ Interview of both Neal Schon and Steve Perry. I feel gutted after reading this article. Steve was part of the band the Alien Project before joining Journey .  Journey was already a working band and the people in that band wanted a different career - they didn't want a frontman.  The label created the band for Neal Schon. Neal knew that.  Putting a frontman in means, he won't get to be the star of the show like what was initially intended (and I think what he expected).  However, the label forced them to add a vocalist to get them on radio.  They were given an ultimatum: get a vocalist or we let you go. Not only that, they were not given the choice of who to hire for their frontman - Steve was shoved down their throats.  So, from the get-go, the relationship within the band was already strained. Steve felt like he always had to prove himself to the band .  I know what that feels like. ...

I'm losing my mind!  I am seriously on the brink of insanity - this man is driving me nuts! Why does he have to be so adorable?

Nobody really knows the reason why he decided to stop singing with Journey.  There were so many mentioned: his mother died, his girlfriend left, he had depression, he was angry, he was confused.  He even said in an interview that he questioned whether he still wanted that life.  Then, he went back, and then again, there were problems: his hip, the band did not even give him a chance.  After that, we heard nothing from either party.  I know they are trying to be respectful of each other, but it seems that, in the silence, they said more to each other than if they had an actual conversation. Steve felt abandoned by the band - which is why he said he never really felt like he was part of the band to begin with.  He MADE that band famous - let's be clear about that.  I know that all of them were great musicians in their own right, but Steve Perry is what made that band FAMOUS. On the other hand, the band felt that he was taking them all for granted. B...

I want you to find me, Steve.  I want you to find me and fall in love and find the happiness that has eluded you for years!  I can make you happy!  I will love you like no one else has! 

I am plagued by emotions for a man who doesn't even know I exist.   What if we never meet? I know I said in my last post that I hope our paths never cross... but that was only because I can tell I have zero chance of ever affecting his life the way I imagined I would.  However, there is a part of me - a huge part of me - that still wishes and hopes that we do meet, that we do fall in love.  I may be the help he needs in his life. Steve looks like a person who was put through the ringer - life had been gracious to him at the start, but quite unkind as the years progressed.  You can tell that he has been living with sorrow.  Recluse, they call him.  He's been living with memories, you see. Memories of his mother, and probably guilt. I'm not completely sure.  Whatever it is, it's a heavy load to carry, and for so many years.  I hope he knows that he can let go of this load and live.
